We were really chuffed to hear this morning that our video for the University of Melbourne 'Educating Tomorrow's Leaders' has won the Gold Award for Fundraising Videos (short) at the CASE Circle of Excellence Awards.
This video was commissioned by the Advancement Office at the University of Melbourne as a fundraising video for their scholarship program. CASE, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, is our client's peak global industry body so it's a fantastic outcome and means worldwide recognition.

Our friend and colleague Hannah Brontë is going from strength to strength creating powerful artworks about feminism and identity. We were thrilled to join the production team on her latest video work 'Still I Rise' that features black women as heads of government. Hannah was interviewed recently about The Monthly for this project which you can find here. Can't wait to see what's next for Hannah.

Late last year, our Director Katrina Channells edited the third episode of Over Represented, a great series produced by VICE Australia on the topic of Indigenous incarceration. The series screened on ABC iView in December. The third episode is titled Barred Calls: On the Line with the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service.
You can view the full episode below:
Episode synopsis from VICE:
Client Service Officers (CSOs) at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service are responsible for checking in on the wellbeing of every Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander taken into custody within Victoria and Tasmania. Established in response to Australia's deplorable record of Indigenous incarceration, the service is a vital measure in the prevention of Aboriginal deaths in custody. However, after hours, there is only ever one CSO on duty.
VICE Australia spent a night shift with Elva, a 28-year-old CSO and proud Indigenous woman. Over the course of 12 hours, we watched Elva make dozens of calls to police stations in order to carry out her crucial role. It's a heavy responsibility but Elva's sense of justice, and the compassion she feels for her people, keep her committed to the task.
Katrina and I have been working on a project for the last few months with the Advancement team at University of Melbourne. The University has an excellent scholarships program, awarding hundreds of scholarships each year, and our brief was to capture the stories of three of these students.
We shot this video 'Educating Tomorrow's Leaders' over August and September here in Melbourne and it was a real delight getting to know Catherine, Najib and Celeste. They are fantastic, hard working students who are truly making the most of the scholarships they've been awarded. You can take a look at the video below or head to the University of Melbourne Believe campaign website: https://www.campaign.unimelb.edu.au/
It's been fantastic working on this campaign with our University of Melbourne clients Corrina Langelaan and Emma Brimfield-Walsh, so a big thank you to the team in Advancement.

"Coming here at a young age and not being able to speak, read or write was hard. I worked harder than most of the other students." Najib Hashimi, University of Melbourne student and scholarship awardee
A Citizens' Jury is essentially what it sounds like - a sample group of adults are brought together, briefed in detail on a particular issue and asked to discuss ways of solving a problem. Citizens' Juries are fast becoming a popular way to involve the community in issues that effect everyone.
VicHealth are the latest organisation to try this strategy, coordinating a Citizens' Jury on the topic of Obesity. The questions for the jury is: how can we make it easier for Victorians to eat better.
Our brief from event production company Wildwon was to introduce three of these jury members to audiences, and share their thoughts on the process and what it means to them. Over the last few weeks we've come to know Greg, Carolyn and Ashley who come at the issue from quite different perspectives. They all have a lot to offer to this process and today we're sharing the first installment in this three-part series.

Kat and I are so pleased to be working with The Victorian College of the Arts again to continue our artists series from 2014, In The Making. This series follows a number of VCA Graduate Alumni as they move into their artistic practice outside of university.
We shot the 2015 installment of the series over winter, profiling Alice Darling, a theatre director, and Darren Vizer, a former dancer and choreographer. We had a great time getting to know Alice & Darren and you can find their videos below. A big thanks to Darren and Alice for having us along and also to our clients Kate Mulqueen and Susan Bird from VCA External Relations.

"For me, the decision to become a director and choreographer, I had no choice. There was no choice. That was the reason I went back to the Arts." - Darren Vizer, Choreographer and Director of Devize Co
"There is this point where you have to just give the show over to your actors and your audience...and just watch." - Alice Darling, Theatre Director
Today we are excited to share our Brand Story for BOH Dental, one of the oldest and most trusted Dental Practices in Brisbane. We have never met a bunch of nicer people! All the Dentists and Prosthodontists at BOH are truly passionate about what they do and they genuinely care about their patients and their staff. We loved getting to know the team, specifically Alice, Lyndon and Mark, and sharing their story. You can view the video below, or head to their website at www.bohdental.com.au
So we have a new and very exciting project in the works with the fabulous folks at Oakleigh Centre, a disability services organisation based in Melbourne's South East. Oakleigh Centre are undergoing an enormous "Grand Designs" style accommodation redevelopment and they've brought Yarn on to document the process. This project is quite different to most of our other work as we will be documenting this project over its two year timeline! We will produce one documentary short each six months, plus one longform documentary of the whole process, tracking the journeys of the 30 Oakleigh residents as they move into their new homes. On our first shoot day we filmed Oakleigh's first milestone event which was a celebration of the purchase of the new blocks of land. We are really rapt about this project and can't wait to keep filming.
We had a great time shooting the vision for our BOH Dental brand video over four mornings the week before Christmas. Trying to beat the sunrise in Brisbane over summer meant very early starts - so a big thanks to our BOH talent Lyndon Hayes, Alice Kelsey and Mark Elliott for being such good sports. Thanks to all the wonderful partners, associates and staff at BOH, and a particular thanks to Allison Harding and Annie Leathart for all their help with scheduling our shoot. We really enjoyed ourselves and we can't wait to share the BOH Dental video in the coming weeks.
